A simulator bay is only as trustworthy as the sensors feeding it. Here's what we run, and how we keep it honest against real outdoor ball flight.
Radar for Flight, Camera for Impact
Doppler radar tracks the ball continuously from the moment it leaves the face — ball speed, launch angle, spin rate, and the full flight curve all come from the same continuous track, not a single snapshot.
A high-speed camera runs in parallel, capturing clubhead speed, path, face angle, and strike location at the instant of impact. Running both means a bad read on one system gets caught by the other instead of quietly making it onto your spec sheet.
Three Checks That Keep the Numbers Real
Outdoor Validation Rounds
On a rolling schedule, fitters take a set of clubs to an outdoor range and log flight against the same clubs' bay readings, checking for drift.
Mat & Net Calibration
Hitting mats and the return net get re-checked for wear, since a soft mat or a slack net can skew launch and spin numbers over time.
Dual-Sensor Agreement
Radar and camera readings on the same swing get compared automatically; a mismatch flags the swing for a manual re-check rather than getting logged as-is.
Why a Fixed Climate Actually Matters
Air density changes ball flight more than most golfers realize — a hot, thin-air afternoon in Mesa carries a driver noticeably farther than a cool morning, even with an identical swing. Holding the bay at a constant temperature and altitude-adjusted setting removes that variable from every reading.
It also means a January session and an August session produce numbers you can actually compare, instead of numbers that are secretly measuring the weather as much as your swing.
